Remembrance Day

To honour those who served, AAPS lays a wreath on behalf of our members at the 2014 Remembrance Day Ceremony at UBC. Successful Settlement Reached in Important Grievance

This complex case began in April 2013, when UBC compelled an employee with 24 years of service to sign away their entitlement to notice (i.e. severance or working notice) upon termination, in exchange for $5. The so called “$5 deals” the University started making with our members in 2012, were deeply offensive to AAPS and caused considerable damage to an already frayed relationship. A construction map is now available to help our UBC community better navigate the Vancouver campus. It shows where and when roads will be closed on campus, as well as construction site locations, and will be updated weekly.

2014 Collective Bargaining Update #4—Tentative Collective Agreement

The AAPS bargaining committee is pleased to announce that after intensive mediation this weekend with Mediator Irene Holden, AAPS and UBC have reached a tentative Collective Agreement. The AAPS bargaining team would like to thank Ms. Holden for her assistance in helping the parties reach an agreement. The bargaining committee recommends ratification of the deal.
