UBC M&P Benefits

This page will be updated shortly.

Your benefits are negotiated by AAPS at a high level. UBC Human Resources administers the benefits package for AAPS members. If you have questions about your UBC Benefits, please contact UBC HR.

When searching for benefits on UBC's webpages, please be sure you are always looking at the benefits for the Management & Professional Staff Group (M&P).

Each employee group at UBC has a different benefits package.

Disability Benefit Plan

Long-Term Disability Benefits are the exception. Your long-term disability benefit plan (DBP) is an employee paid for and managed program. You can view the committee members here. All AAPS members who are under the age of 65 and work at least 17.5 hours per week, should be automatically enrolled. You can check on your pay statement to ensure that you are enrolled in this program.

The carrier for the DBP is SunLife. If you are currently on sick leave and in consultation with your doctor it does not look like you will be able to return to work, please contact the AAPS Office to get a better understanding of how to apply for DBP. SunLife will determine eligibility, but we can help talk you through the process.

We strongly encourage any member who is considering applying for DBP speak with a Member Services Officer before beginning the process. In addition, if you have been denied DBP, please make an appointment with the AAPS Office.

Here is a general overview of the Long-term Disability Benefit Plan and the application process.
