(SUB - Movie Theater, Main Floor).

Warmest holiday greetings to everyone!

Please mark your calendars and attend:

Please RSVP by sending an email to aaps@interchange.ubc.ca
or calling AAPS office at 822-9025.

I wish to thank all the AAPS members who attended the information meeting on December 2nd in the Liu Center. We had an engaging and spirited discussion on the strategic direction of AAPS. At this meeting the AAPS executive board outlined a budget that involved a significant drawing down of reserves in order that we can achieve successes in this very important year of activity. AAPS members are entering a negotiation year of the Collective Agreement and we are vigorously pursuing the remediation of the compensation policy grievance. The AAPS Executive Board is also initiating other strategic initiatives that are aimed at helping our association meet the needs of its members.

Based on input received at that meeting, and further Executive Board discussion, your Executive Board has unanimously approved the following motions for ratification by the membership:

1. That the dues for the Association of Administrative and Professional Staff be increased from the present .3% of gross salary to .54% of gross salary, effective Feb. 1st, 2005.

2. That the Executive Board recommends approval of the

Proposed Budget (pdf) for the 2004/2005 year.

You do not have to wait for the meeting on January 14th, 2005 to provide feedback, but you do have to wait until then to vote! Your Executive Board welcomes all questions regarding our strategic priorities and activities. We invite you to contact us over the coming weeks by e-mailing any or all of us. For individual contact information check our website http://www.aaps.ubc.ca/index.html . To contact the whole board, send an email toaaps-board@interchange.ubc.ca

Please consider this an opportunity to participate in a pivotal year for AAPS! The PowerPoint presentation for this meeting and the proposed budget will be available on our website on Dec. 20/04
