You Have The IQ. How About Your EQ? (encore)

Presented by:

Point Grey Campus
Liu Institite for Global Issues, Multi-purpose room
Focus Area: Resiliency and Leadership in the Workplace

Program Summary

Aristotle wrote that “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.” For decades, a lot of emphasis was placed on cognitive aspects of intelligence such as logical reasoning, math skills, spatial skills and verbal skills.  But in today’s workplaces you cannot get ahead solely because of your intellectual skills and technical competence — it takes people-skills to truly excel and take yourself to the next level.  Emotional intelligence is trending. Articles on EQ are proliferating in scholarly journals. Organizations are delivering EQ training for their staff. Studies attesting to the ROI of EQ abound. Without a doubt, EQ is not a passing fad.

This fast-paced and dynamic session will provide you with an understanding of the competencies that constitute emotional intelligence, as well as developmental activities for increasing your EQ. You will walk away with a toolkit of practical strategies and insights.
