Program Summary:

You've landed a job in a great organization – congratulations! But where do you go from here? Have you considered your career future and what you want? Whether you are new to UBC or have many years invested, it may be time to ask yourself "what's next?" Attend this inspiring and hands-on workshop to gain a framework for considering your career options, practical steps to take and resources available to you.


In this Session You Will Gain Tools and Resources to:

  • Understand how careers really develop and gain a new understanding for how to approach your career no matter what career stage you are in
  • Identify your strengths, values, transferable skills and interests through informal activities and create some initial career profiling to clarify career fit
  • Learn what practical and doable steps you can take to discover new opportunities and connect you to career alternatives
  • Develop your 20 second verbal resume – important for networking conversations
  • Initiate a conversation with your supervisor regarding your career future
  • Create a road map for action

Presenter Bio:

Marlene Delanghe, Principle at Career Solutions and a career strategist, offers innovative career programming to individual professionals and growing, changing organizations that lead to engaged workplaces.  With 20 years of experience, she has delivered services to both career-focused individuals and organizations spanning some of Vancouver’s top firms in professional advisory services, mining, government, technology, biotechnology sectors as well as staff in post-secondary institutions.  Through training and coaching support in performance management, career management programs, mentorship programs, management development, outplacement services, she enables leaders to proactively manage and engage their people.  She is passionate about creating high performance environments where individuals can contribute their talents in healthy and values-based organizations. 

She holds a master’s degree in Psychology, an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, as well as certifications in psychometric tools. As a professional and contributing member of her community, she is a member of the BC Human Resource Management Association and mentors participants of the Minerva Foundation. She also mentors clients of various not-for-profit career programs and contributes to “Sophia Wealth Academy” by providing workshops for women who wish to gain financial wisdom.
