Market Compensation Review Implementation Negotiations

As we spoke about at the AAPS Annual General Meeting, we have been meeting with the University over the last few months regarding the implementation of the recent Market Compensation Review.

We are close to reaching a settlement with UBC. We will update you when the implementation plan is finalized.  


Bargaining Update

AAPS and the University have agreed to set aside a significant number of dates in January and February 2020 for Collective Bargaining. Please remember that your current Collective Agreement will stay in place until a new one has been ratified by you, the members. You are not without an employment contract.

Paid Leave Between Boxing Day and New Year’s Day

Articles 10.4 and 12.10 of the Collective Agreement provide AAPS members paid time off for the three days between Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. This paid time off is typically granted in recognition of additional hours of work. It may also be granted in recognition of other contributions that you make, or if your office is closing for the holiday break. Paid Leave is an additional three days on top of your vacation entitlement.

If you are denied the three days paid leave between Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, told to use vacation days instead, told that you have not worked significant additional hours, or told to work from home, please contact us to discuss your specific situation.

Office Closure

The AAPS Office will close at 1:00pm on Tuesday, December 24, 2019 and open again on January 2, 2020. A staff member will be monitoring the AAPS voicemail.
