UBC Conflict of Interest/Conflict of Commitment Declaration - Talk to us first!

It’s that time of year again. Time for many AAPS members to sign UBC’s Conflict of Interest/Conflict of Commitment Declarations.

If you are asked to sign a Conflict of Interest/Conflict of Commitment Declaration for the first time, please contact me first for a confidential conversation. We can review your specific situation so that you have an understanding of what you do and do not need to disclose. Each situation is different depending on the work you do for the University and what you do outside of work.

If you are being asked to sign the declaration again and something in your work or personal circumstances has changed, you are still encouraged to talk to AAPS. We can also address situations where you think you may have filled out the form incorrectly.

In addition, if you have any questions or concerns about the Conflict of Interest and Conflict of Commitment policy and how it is being applied in your department, please contact us.

Please contact joey.hansen@ubc.ca for a confidential conversation about your specifc situation.

Last year we fielded more than 250 inquiries regarding these declarations. The Office of the University Counsel appreciated that members were well prepared when filling out their forms as it made the process much more efficient.
