AAPS is pleased to welcome back Dayna Holland for this webinar on an Introduction to the Canadian Tax System: Tax Tips for Your 2025 Personal Income Tax.

Tax season is here, and we know it can be stressful for many AAPS members. Whether you are looking to find ways to maximize your return or would simply like to get a better understanding of the Canadian tax system, AAPS is pleased to bring back one of our most popular sessions. Chartered Professional Accountant, Dayna Holland's enthusiastic and friendly approach may even help you look forward to filing your taxes this year. In addition to the presentation, there will also be plenty of time for questions.

Part 1: Introduction to the Canadian Tax System: Tax Tips for Your 2025 Personal Income Tax

  • Filing advice, deadlines, and where to get help (CRA? AI?)
  • Changes to the Federal tax rate
  • Common credits and non-refundable credits
  • Common Deductions
  • Common Tax Savings programs (RRSP, TFSA, FHSA)
  • Tips for planning ahead to the next tax year

Audience for Part 1

All members are invited to take part in this session. It is geared for members who do not have much experience filing their taxes or who have previously only filed a simple income tax form and would like to get a better understanding of different tax issues. Participant Expectations for the Live Zoom Sessions

  1. The information provided in this session is for general overview purposes only. Please speak with your tax professional about your specific situation
  2. The live Zooms will be held on the AAPS Zoom webinar platform, and auto-captions will be enabled
  3. Dayna will talk through the presentation, and we’ll leave plenty of time for questions at the end of the session
  4. We will record the presentation portion of the session and turn off the recording for the Q&A
  5. Please wait until the Q&A opens to post your questions. We recommend that you write or type out your question and review it in advance of posting it to ensure clarity and comprehension

About Your Facilitator

For many the word tax doesn't always bring happy thoughts. It’s Dayna’s mission to change that. Her goal is to share her knowledge and expertise and to bring new awareness and understanding when it comes to tax implications and planning. Nothing brings her more joy than when a client finds out about a deduction they didn't know about—that's why educating clients is one of Dayna’s favourite things to do!

Dayna Holland is a Chartered Professional Accountant at Affirm LLP. Dayna started her career as a Chartered Accountant at Ernst & Young LLP.  She worked for a couple of technology related companies before starting her own public accounting practice in November 2007.  At the end of 2022, she joined Affirm LLP.

Outside the world of accounting, Dayna is a mom, wife and enjoys her time skiing and hanging out with her friends.

About Your Host

AAPS is the labour relations organization that represents the Management and Professional Staff group to their employer UBC. The AAPS Professional Development program is designed for and offered exclusively to AAPS members at no cost. AAPS members can register to attend one of the live Zoom sessions or access the recorded version. Before registering, please consider your schedule and your ability to actively participate.
