Join the Petition to Urge the Government to Extend the Millennium Line to UBC

Dear AAPS Members,

Over the past year, we have held a number of consultations to better understand the issues that matter most to you and what you need to improve your overall quality of life.

One of the key issues that is frequently raised is improved public transportation. Many of you have expressed how important reliable and safe public transit is. You have shared how it is not just a convenience, but a lifeline that gets you to work, to your home, and to access the different supports you need.

BC Budget 2026 Consultation

In June, AAPS took part in the BC Budget 2026 Consultation. I presented three calls to action to government officials who are members of the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services.

One of our calls to action to the provincial government was to expand the Broadway extension of the Millennium Line to UBC and ensure improved public transportation in Kelowna. We know that the provincial government heard our call as they have noted it on page 67 of their recently published Report on the Budget 2026 Consultation.

As we all know, acknowledging an issue is only the first step. Meaningful progress requires action. To build momentum, we need to continue to convey to the provincial government just how critical this initiative is.

Join the AMS Petition: SkyTrain Millennium Line extension to UBC

The Alma Mater Society (AMS), UBC Vancouver’s Student Union, has organized a petition to tell the government to build the SkyTrain Millennium Line extension to UBC. We encourage you to add your name to the petition and support this campaign.

By supporting this campaign, we can amplify our call and let the government know that extending the SkyTrain Millennium Line to UBC is the most practical solution to meet the transit demands of UBC staff, faculty, and students, ease congestion, and support the increasing number of people who live and work at or near the university.
