PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Synthesizing and disseminating information to decision makers is a critical part of many job functions, but all too often we rely on lengthy one-size-fits-all reports or boring slide presentations that don’t meet the needs of busy managers or engage diverse audiences. This introductory workshop introduces four principles for writing more effective reports along with innovative alternatives to the traditional final report that not only capture the attention of stakeholders but inspire them to action.

What You Will Learn:

  • The role of innovative reporting in information dissemination
  • Principles for more effective reporting
  • Common report errors and simple hacks
  • Innovative alternatives

How You Will Learn:

  • Short lecture
  • Short individual activities
  • Small and large group activities
  • Presentation of real-life examples
  • Video

WHY AAPS IS OFFERING THIS SESSION

Many AAPS members are required to deliver a number of reports and presentations. Often due to workload and lack of resources, it may be challenging to find new and interesting ways of presenting information that is compelling for your audience. Although this is only a short session, we hope that it will give you some tips to feel more confident and creative about your work.

If you are experiencing a workplace issue or have questions about your collective agreement, please contact the AAPS Office.

AUDIENCE

This session is designed for AAPS members, who don’t have a lot of time but are looking for some alternative ideas to traditional final reports or who would like to get some quick tips on effective reporting from a seasoned expert.
